However, recently one 386th ECS systems administrator has found a unique use for those worn out hard drives.

Miguel Rivera has been using the pieces from old hard drives to create a collection of distinctive sculptures. So far he has constructed two different cars, a fat-boy motorcycle and a robot.

"I just started making them just a few months ago," said Mr. Rivera, who has worked in the 386th ECS for the past five years. "We had a growing pile of hard drives just lying around the shop. One day I decide to take one apart since I'd never looked at the guts up close before. That's pretty much how it all started."

His first sculpture, a car-like vehicle, was built over one full weekend from standard 3.5-inch hard drives. It took a total of 33 hard drives to make, including 32 gutted for the discs and one for the main body.

"The first one wasn't really difficult to put together since I didn't have to modify much other than the cover," said Mr. Rivera. "Everything else just screwed on."

His second sculpture was another miniature car, and the difficulty of construction was very similar to the first, said Mr. Rivera. His third piece, a fat-boy motorcycle, was a bit more difficult.

"I just couldn't get parts to mix well at first to reflect the look I wanted. It took many hours of taking apart pieces and putting them back together to get it right," said Mr. Rivera. "From start to finish I think the bike took me three full weekends. I added a pair of dog tags given to me by a Navy chaplain as a tribute to our selfless troops."

Mr. Rivera said his favorite sculpture is the robot he built.

CONTINUE READING
http://we-fixed-it.blogspot.com

642-661 practice exam

IT CERTIFICATION TRAINING, 642-661 PRACTICE EXAM

EXAM DESCRIPTION:
The 642-661 BGP exam is a qualifying exam for the CCIP certification. The 642-661 BGP exam tests material covered under the Configuring BGP on Cisco Routers (BGP) v 3.1 course. The BGP exam assesses a candidate's understanding of the theory of BGP, ability to configure BGP on Cisco IOS routers, and skills with troubleshooting on BGP. As a routing protocol, BGP is one of the underlying foundations of the Internet and new-world technologies.

EXAM TOPIC:

The following information provides general guidelines for the content likely to be included on the BGP exam. It is not necessary to set any jumpers, terminators, or other settings on this drive for proper operation. The jumper block adjacent to the SATA interface connector on SATA 150MB/s drives is for factory use only. The jumper block adjacent to the SATA interface connector on SATA 300MB/s drives can be used to force the drive into SATA 150MB/s mode for use with older SATA controllers that only work with SATA 150MB/s drives.

With a Serial ATA interface, each disk drive has its own cable that connects directly to a Serial ATA host adapter or a Serial ATA port on your motherboard. Unlike Parallel ATA, there is no master-slave relationship between drives that use a Serial ATA interface.

You can use a Serial ATA drive in the same system with Parallel ATA drives as long as both interfaces are supported on the motherboard or with a host adapter. This makes it easy to add Serial ATA compatibility to your existing system without removing existing Parallel ATA disk drives.

* Installation in a Windows System
* Installation in a Macintosh System

Installation in a Windows System
Note: For a slideshow of the Serial ATA installation process, please visit our Serial ATA Installation Basics page.
What You Need

* A Phillips screwdriver and four 6-32 UNC drive mounting screws.
* A Serial ATA interface cable (sold separately). I want to use my computer and phone anytime, from anywhere, and with anyone. I want it all and when it is convenient for me. I honestly don’t feel too bad about this selfish streak since everyone I know wants the same things from the network. Most people don’t care about problems that result from sharing the network – they just want unlimited and uninterrupted access.

To meet this need, the Internet, public services and many corporate networks are moving to IPv6, a newer version of basic IP protocol. Why is there such a need to change when the existing standard, IPv4, is still running our networks just fine? Well, quite frankly, the world is running out of IPv4 addresses. Current fixes to share IPv4 addresses among users and devices cause performance, scalability and reliability problems as new devices and new video, voice, and collaborative applications become pervasive.

What’s the difference between IPv4 and IPv6?

First and foremost IPv6 extends the number of addresses significantly. The Internet, based on the venerable IPv4 packet format, has been burning most of the available addresses (roughly 4 billion) in its first 25 years of existence. IPv6 enhances the length of the address field from 32 bits to 128 bits, resulting in enough addresses to cope with the growth of the Internet for centuries to come, and enabling true borderless connectivity (anybody, anything, anywhere, anytime).

continue reading....

source from: ipv6 that network is mine

http://we-fixed-it.blogspot.com

Monetizing Social Networks: The Four Dominant Business Models and How You Should Implement Them in 2010

source from: Monetizing Social Networks: The Four Dominant Business Models and How You Should

The business models within the social media realm are much different than traditional businesses. In social networking, they’re ever-changing, backed by eye-opening revenue and have very little documentation.

Reason: as soon as someone sits down to outline ways social networks can be monetized, another model emerges, and another model ceases. For this reason, this piece will be routinely updated with new models and new feedback from your comments.

Below are the Four Primary Business Models in the social networking space that I’ve experienced–they primarily are concerned with Facebook Applications. There may be others, or extensions of these, or even ideas out there that have yet to be tested yet are profoundly viable. You might try Facebook itself, of course, but the clash of business and personal communications could leave your vacation photos mingling with company news, and could lead to a lot of goofing off on company time. Instead, turn to a social network platform to make your own distinct site. Many services, including Grou.ps and SocialGO, offer functionality similar to that of Facebook; but in this tutorial I'll focus on Ning, which has been established for a few years and offers customization tools that can make your site behave almost any way you want.
Within your company, you could rely on a Ning social network to maintain schedules for anything from managing workgroup projects to organizing an office softball team. Calendar tools, blog-style posts, comments, and other systems could help connect people. And you could post photos and videos to recap events.

continue

http://we-fixed-it.blogspot.com

Set-up HOME GROUP WINDOWS 7

How to set-up HOMEGROUP WINDOWS 7, click me
http://we-fixed-it.blogspot.com

Remove Vundo.H Guaranteed Using this Step-by-Step Guide!

by Jake M. It blankets your pc with a lot of infuriating advertising pop-ups of fraudulent antivirus downloads. The Vundo virus commonly causes denial of service errors while surfing Yahoo and other secure websites. It attacks major internet browsers like IE (Internet Explorer), Mozilla Firefox, and Opera.

The Vundo Virus is a difficult removal due to the fact that it resides in your pcs active processes through an internet executable file. After that, it secures itself within IE and the Winlogin processes.

It is often a struggle to close your administrator windows logon processes. This is why when you attempt to remove its DLL files you receive a message reading that the file is in use.

Even when you are successful in removing pieces of the the trojan, it will swiftly re-install with every boot. The Vundo Virus is known for making a lot of DLL processes labeled by eight random lower and upper case numbers, symbols, and letters which might get found with your spyware protection software instead of the infected DLL program.

continue reading.....

http://we-fixed-it.blogspot.com

The Seven Most Underused Mail Features

Author: Joe Kissell, Macworld.com

f you're anything like me, you fall into certain habits when using programs such as Apple Mail--you get used to using the same small set of core features all the time and tend to overlook capabilities that are less obvious, though no less useful. Based on my own experience and my observations of several other Mail users, I've compiled a list of seven truly helpful features that often go unnoticed (applicable to both Leopard and Snow Leopard versions of Mail).
1. The Photo Browser

I can't tell you how many times I've wanted to mail someone a photo, and my first impulse was to launch iPhoto (and then drag an image into Mail or use iPhoto's Share -> Email command). But there's a quicker and easier way. In Mail, just choose Window -> Photo Browser. A floating window appears instantly, showing the complete contents of your iPhoto library. Locate the picture you want, drag it into a message window, and you're done.

2. Plain Text

This may be a bit of a personal bias, but I like to receive e-mail in plain text (so that I get to decide what font, size, style, and color messages use). I also like to extend that courtesy to others. Mail uses Rich Text by default for outgoing messages, but you can change this by choosing Mail -> Preferences, clicking on the Composing icon on the toolbar, and choosing Plain Text from the Message Format menu. (To change the format for an individual message, choose Format -> Make Rich Text or Format -> Make Plain Text.) To force incoming mail to display in plain text by default (which isn't possible for all messages), you need to quit Mail, open Terminal (in /Applications/Utilities) and enter the following command: defaults write com.apple.mail PreferPlainText -bool TRUE. To switch to styled text (if available) when viewing a plain-text message, choose View -> Message -> Best Alternative.

3. Multiple From addresses

If an e-mail account has more than one valid From address (for example, if you use jk@example.com as an alias to joekissell@example.com), you can configure Mail to let you use any of those addresses when sending a given message from that account. First, choose Mail -> Preferences, click on the Accounts icon on the toolbar, select your account, and click on Account Information. Then, in the E-mail Address field, enter all the addresses you might use with that account, separated by commas. Close the Preferences window and click on Save. Now, when you compose a new message, you can choose any of those addresses from the From pop-up menu below the Subject field.

4. Activity window

Does Mail seem to take an awfully long time to check or send messages? If you're curious to know what it's up to behind the scenes, choose Window -> Activity (Command-0) to display a floating window showing each operation Mail is currently performing. You can stop any given activity by clicking on its Stop icon.

5. Connection Doctor

If you encounter problems sending or receiving mail, you don't need to guess at the nature of the problem. Find out exactly what's wrong by choosing Window -> Connection Doctor. Mail then checks each of your incoming and outgoing account connections, and displays a window with a plain English description of any problems it found, usually with advice for fixing them.

6. Send Again

Suppose you sent a message to a bunch of people and you realize you forgot someone. Instead of opening the message in your Sent mailbox, copying its contents, and pasting it into a new message, just select the message, choose Message -> Send Again (Command-Shift-D), and replace the existing recipients with the new one(s). The subject and message contents remain the same as before (although you can edit them if you like).

7. Remove Attachments

Attachments--whether in messages you've received or copies of outgoing messages in your Sent mailbox--can chew up a lot of disk space. If you use an IMAP or Exchange account that imposes a storage quota, this can become a significant concern. Luckily, Mail can remove attachments from stored messages, and if you've already saved a copy of the attachments elsewhere, using this feature is a good idea. Locate one or more messages with attachments and choose Message -> Remove Attachments. Behind the scenes, Mail duplicates the message (omitting attachments) and deletes the original.

http://we-fixed-it.blogspot.com

IP ROUTING - RIP

original content: http://www.secuobs.com/revue/news/142612.shtml

IP Routing - RIP

Par Syn
Le [2009-09-20] à 06:26:59

Présentation : In this post i'm going to describe how to configure RIP as a routing protocol. I'll be using the network layout as shown below. Router 1 R1 FastEthernet 0 0 - 192.168.1.1 24loopback 0 - 172.16.10.0 24 Router 2 R2 FastEthernet 0 0 - 192.168.1.2 24FastEthernet 1 0 - 192.168.2.1 24 Router 3 R3 FastEthernet 0 0 - 192.168.2.2 24 About RIP First a bit about RIP. RIP is a distance vector dynamic routing protocol. That means it populates its routing table based on the routing updates its recieves from it's neighbors and it calculates the best path based on distance or hops . RIP comes in 2 versions, version 1 and version 2. RIP V1 has been around since the late 60's, is classless meaning it doesnt send subnet information, it has no authentication and it works by broadcasting the routes it knows about every 30 seconds. RIP V2 is classfull, supports authentication and uses multicast 224.0.0.9 . RIP is non-proprietry so it is supported on a range of equipment and not just cisco. RIP V1 and V2 both have an administrative distance of 120. Configuring RIP Okay, now the fun part. I'll be setting up RIP V2 in this post.The way RIP works is I enable it on my router, tell it to use version 2, and tell it what networks to advertise. To start with lets see what routes R1 knows already R1 show ip routeC 172.16.10.0 is directly connected, Loopback0C 192.168.1.0 24 is directly connected, FastEthernet0 0 Okay, so it knows about the directly connrected routes. What about R3 R3 show ip routeC 192.168.2.0 24 is directly connected, FastEthernet0 0 Great. No chance of pinging the 172.16.10.1 interface on R1 then. For this pinging business to be sucessfull I need to enable RIP V2 on all the routers. I then need to list all the networks that each router knows about. Like this. Router 1 R1 R1 config router ripR1 config-router version 2R1 config-router network 192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0R1 config-router network 172.16.10.0 255.255.255.0 Router 2 R2 R2 config router ripR2 config-router version 2R2 config-router network 192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0R2 config-router network 192.168.2.0 255.255.255.0 Router 3 R3 R1 config router ripR1 config-router version 2R1 config-router network 192.168.2.0 255.255.255.0 Great. Now i'll check R3 routing table. R3 show ip routeGateway of last resort is not setR 172.16.0.0 16 120 1 via 192.168.2.1, 00 00 17, FastEthernet0 0R 192.168.1.0 24 120 1 via 192.168.2.1, 00 00 17, FastEthernet0 0C 192.168.2.0 24 is directly connected, FastEthernet0 0 Brilliant. I can now see the routes to 172.16.0.0 network. And can I ping it R3 ping 172.16.10.1Type escape sequence to abort.Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to 172.16.10.1, timeout is 2 seconds Success rate is 100 percent 5 5 , round-trip min avg max 60 72 92 ms So remember, you have to tell the router which networks you want to advertise and if you dont list the network which an interface is configured for, RIP won't advertise out of that interface.Lastly in this section I will cover how to turn off RIP propogating out of an Interface. This could be because you have RIP enabled but on of your interfaces is connected to a untrusted network for example. To prevent the propogation you wolud make the interface passive. You will still recieve RIP updates onthe interface bt will not send them. In the example below I'll prevent Router 2 from sending updates to Router 3. R2 config router ripR2 config-router version 2R2 config-router network 192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0R2 config-router network 192.168.2.0 255.255.255.0R2 config-router passive-interface fastethernet 1 0 Configuring Authentication Below I am going to configure authentication on my RIP updates. What I noticed in my lab was as soon as I set this up on a router the remote routers lost all routes until they too were configured for authentication. So it seems that this is an all or nothing thing. Below I enter global config mode, create a keychain called homelab, a key, and I give the key a password of cisco. R1 configure terminalR1 config key chain homelabR1 config-keychain key 1R1 config-keychain-key key-string cisco Now I enter the interface configuration and, tell it what key chain I'm using and tell it to use MD5. This has to be done on each interface that RIP will be sent or received on. Also, each neighboring router needs to use the same key cisco as set up in the steps above. R1 configure terminalR1 config interface fastEthernet 0 0R1 config-if ip rip authentication key-chain homelabR1 config-if ip rip authentication mode md5R1 config-if end Running a show ip protocols lists what the router knows about the authentication you have configured. R2 show ip protocolsRouting Protocol is rip Outgoing update filter list for all interfaces is not set Incoming update filter list for all interfaces is not set Sending updates every 30 seconds, next due in 3 seconds Invalid after 180 seconds, hold down 180, flushed after 240 Redistributing rip Default version control send version 2, receive version 2 Interface Send Recv Triggered RIP Key-chain FastEthernet0 0 2 2 homelab FastEthernet1 0 2 2 homelab Automatic network summarization is in effect Maximum path 4 Routing for Networks 172.16.0.0 192.168.1.0 192.168.2.0 Routing Information Sources Gateway Distance Last Update 192.168.2.2 120 00 08 39 192.168.1.1 120 00 00 03 Distance default is 120 Troubleshooting RIP The commands that I have found useful in helping to troubleshoot RIP are R1 show ip protocolsRouting Protocol is rip Outgoing update filter list for all interfaces is not set Incoming update filter list for all interfaces is not set Sending updates every 30 seconds, next due in 25 seconds Invalid after 180 seconds, hold down 180, flushed after 240 Redistributing rip Default version control send version 2, receive version 2 Interface Send Recv Triggered RIP Key-chain FastEthernet0 0 2 2 Loopback0 2 2 Automatic network summarization is in effect Maximum path 4 Routing for Networks 172.16.0.0 192.168.1.0 Routing Information Sources Gateway Distance Last Update 192.168.1.2 120 00 00 20 Distance default is 120 In the output above there are a bunch of timers Update, Invalid, Holddown and Flush . "Enter to return to Windows or press Control-Alt-Delete to restart your computer. If you do this you will lose any unsaved information in all open applications."

You have just been struck by the Blue Screen of Death. Anyone who uses Mcft Windows will be familiar with this. What can you do? More importantly, how can you prevent it happening?

1 Hardware conflict

The number one reason why Windows crashes is hardware conflict. Each hardware device communicates to other devices through an interrupt request channel (IRQ). These are supposed to be unique for each device.

For example, a printer usually connects internally on IRQ 7. The keyboard usually uses IRQ 1 and the floppy disk drive IRQ 6. Each device will try to hog a single IRQ for itself.

If there are a lot of devices, or if they are not installed properly, two of them may end up sharing the same IRQ number. When the user tries to use both devices at the same time, a crash can happen. The way to check if your computer has a hardware conflict is through the following route:

* Start-Settings-Control Panel-System-Device Manager.

Often if a device has a problem a yellow '!' appears next to its description in the Device Manager. Highlight Computer (in the Device Manager) and press Properties to see the IRQ numbers used by your computer. If the IRQ number appears twice, two devices may be using it.

Sometimes a device might share an IRQ with something described as 'IRQ holder for PCI steering'. This can be ignored. The best way to fix this problem is to remove the problem device and reinstall it.

Sometimes you may have to find more recent drivers on the internet to make the device function properly. A good resource is DriverGuide.com (printer drivers, cdrom drivers, modem drivers, sound drivers, mouse drivers, monitor drivers, etc.). If the device is a soundcard, or a modem, it can often be fixed by moving it to a different slot on the motherboard (be careful about opening your computer, as you may void the warranty).

When working inside a computer you should switch it off, unplug the mains lead and touch an unpainted metal surface to discharge any static electricity.

To be fair to Mcft, the problem with IRQ numbers is not of its making. It is a legacy problem going back to the first PC designs using the IBM 8086 chip. Initially there were only eight IRQs. Today there are 16 IRQs in a PC. It is easy to run out of them. There are plans to increase the number of IRQs in future designs.

2 Bad Ram

Ram (random-access memory) problems might bring on the blue screen of death with a message saying Fatal Exception Error. A fatal error indicates a serious hardware problem. Sometimes it may mean a part is damaged and will need replacing.

But a fatal error caused by Ram might be caused by a mismatch of chips. For example, mixing 70-nanosecond (70ns) Ram with 60ns Ram will usually force the computer to run all the Ram at the slower speed. This will often crash the machine if the Ram is overworked.

One way around this problem is to enter the BIOS settings and increase the wait state of the Ram. This can make it more stable. Another way to troubleshoot a suspected Ram problem is to rearrange the Ram chips on the motherboard, or take some of them out. Then try to repeat the circumstances that caused the crash. When handling Ram try not to touch the gold connections, as they can be easily damaged.

Parity error messages also refer to Ram. Modern Ram chips are either parity (ECC) or non parity (non-ECC). It is best not to mix the two types, as this can be a cause of trouble.

EMM386 error messages refer to memory problems but may not be connected to bad Ram. This may be due to free memory problems often linked to old Dos-based programmes.

3 BIOS settings

Every motherboard is supplied with a range of chipset settings that are decided in the factory. A common way to access these settings is to press the F2 or delete button during the first few seconds of a boot-up.

Once inside the BIOS, great care should be taken. It is a good idea to write down on a piece of paper all the settings that appear on the screen. That way, if you change something and the computer becomes more unstable, you will know what settings to revert to.

A common BIOS error concerns the CAS latency. This refers to the Ram. Older EDO (extended data out) Ram has a CAS latency of 3. Newer SDRam has a CAS latency of 2. Setting the wrong figure can cause the Ram to lock up and freeze the computer's display.

Mcft Windows is better at allocating IRQ numbers than any BIOS. If possible set the IRQ numbers to Auto in the BIOS. This will allow Windows to allocate the IRQ numbers (make sure the BIOS setting for Plug and Play OS is switched to 'yes' to allow Windows to do this.).

4 Hard disk drives

After a few weeks, the information on a hard disk drive starts to become piecemeal or fragmented. It is a good idea to defragment the hard disk every week or so, to prevent the disk from causing a screen freeze. Go to

* Start-Programs-Accessories-System Tools-Disk Defragmenter

This will start the procedure. You will be unable to write data to the hard drive (to save it) while the disk is defragmenting, so it is a good idea to schedule the procedure for a period of inactivity using the Task Scheduler.

The Task Scheduler should be one of the small icons on the bottom right of the Windows opening page (the desktop).

Some lockups and screen freezes caused by hard disk problems can be solved by reducing the read-ahead optimisation. This can be adjusted by going to

* Start-Settings-Control Panel-System Icon-Performance-File System-Hard Disk.

Hard disks will slow down and crash if they are too full. Do some housekeeping on your hard drive every few months and free some space on it. Open the Windows folder on the C drive and find the Temporary Internet Files folder. Deleting the contents (not the folder) can free a lot of space.

Empty the Recycle Bin every week to free more space. Hard disk drives should be scanned every week for errors or bad sectors. Go to

* Start-Programs-Accessories-System Tools-ScanDisk

Otherwise assign the Task Scheduler to perform this operation at night when the computer is not in use.

5 Fatal OE exceptions and VXD errors

Fatal OE exception errors and VXD errors are often caused by video card problems.

These can often be resolved easily by reducing the resolution of the video display. Go to

* Start-Settings-Control Panel-Display-Settings

Here you should slide the screen area bar to the left. Take a look at the colour settings on the left of that window. For most desktops, high colour 16-bit depth is adequate.

If the screen freezes or you experience system lockups it might be due to the video card. Make sure it does not have a hardware conflict. Go to

* Start-Settings-Control Panel-System-Device Manager

Here, select the + beside Display Adapter. A line of text describing your video card should appear. Select it (make it blue) and press properties. Then select Resources and select each line in the window. Look for a message that says No Conflicts.

If you have video card hardware conflict, you will see it here. Be careful at this point and make a note of everything you do in case you make things worse.

The way to resolve a hardware conflict is to uncheck the Use Automatic Settings box and hit the Change Settings button. You are searching for a setting that will display a No Conflicts message.

Another useful way to resolve video problems is to go to

* Start-Settings-Control Panel-System-Performance-Graphics

Here you should move the Hardware Acceleration slider to the left. As ever, the most common cause of problems relating to graphics cards is old or faulty drivers (a driver is a small piece of software used by a computer to communicate with a device).

Look up your video card's manufacturer on the internet and search for the most recent drivers for it.

6 Viruses

Often the first sign of a virus infection is instability. Some viruses erase the boot sector of a hard drive, making it impossible to start. This is why it is a good idea to create a Windows start-up disk. Go to

* Start-Settings-Control Panel-Add/Remove Programs

Here, look for the Start Up Disk tab. Virus protection requires constant vigilance.

A virus scanner requires a list of virus signatures in order to be able to identify viruses. These signatures are stored in a DAT file. DAT files should be updated weekly from the website of your antivirus software manufacturer.

An excellent antivirus programme is McAfee VirusScan by Network Associates ( McAfee-Antivirus Software and Intrusion Prevention Solutions). Another is Norton AntiVirus 2000, made by Symantec ( Symantec - AntiVirus, Anti-Spyware, Endpoint Security, Backup, Storage Solutions).

7 Printers

The action of sending a document to print creates a bigger file, often called a postscript file.

Printers have only a small amount of memory, called a buffer. This can be easily overloaded. Printing a document also uses a considerable amount of CPU power. This will also slow down the computer's performance.

If the printer is trying to print unusual characters, these might not be recognised, and can crash the computer. Sometimes printers will not recover from a crash because of confusion in the buffer. A good way to clear the buffer is to unplug the printer for ten seconds. Booting up from a powerless state, also called a cold boot, will restore the printer's default settings and you may be able to carry on.

8 Software

A common cause of computer crash is faulty or badly-installed software. Often the problem can be cured by uninstalling the software and then reinstalling it. Use Norton Uninstall or Uninstall Shield to remove an application from your system properly. This will also remove references to the programme in the System Registry and leaves the way clear for a completely fresh copy.

The System Registry can be corrupted by old references to obsolete software that you thought was uninstalled. Use Reg Cleaner by Jouni Vuorio to clean up the System Registry and remove obsolete entries. It works on Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 98 SE (Second Edition), Windows Millennium Edition (ME), NT4 and Windows 2000.

Read the instructions and use it carefully so you don't do permanent damage to the Registry. If the Registry is damaged you will have to reinstall your operating system. Reg Cleaner can be obtained from Registry Cleaner, Optimize Windows with our System Utilities | Macecraft Software

Often a Windows problem can be resolved by entering Safe Mode. This can be done during start-up. When you see the message "Starting Windows" press F4. This should take you into Safe Mode.

Safe Mode loads a minimum of drivers. It allows you to find and fix problems that prevent Windows from loading properly.

Sometimes installing Windows is difficult because of unsuitable BIOS settings. If you keep getting SUWIN error messages (Windows setup) during the Windows installation, then try entering the BIOS and disabling the CPU internal cache. Try to disable the Level 2 (L2) cache if that doesn't work.

Remember to restore all the BIOS settings back to their former settings following installation.

9 Overheating

Central processing units (CPUs) are usually equipped with fans to keep them cool. If the fan fails or if the CPU gets old it may start to overheat and generate a particular kind of error called a kernel error. This is a common problem in chips that have been overclocked to operate at higher speeds than they are supposed to.

One remedy is to get a bigger better fan and install it on top of the CPU. Specialist cooling fans/heatsinks are available from ComputerNerd.com ~Welcome ! ! Best Price--Xenion iSD01 6 watt docking speaker system for iPod ! or coolit.com

CPU problems can often be fixed by disabling the CPU internal cache in the BIOS. This will make the machine run more slowly, but it should also be more stable.

10 Power supply problems

With all the new construction going on around the country the steady supply of electricity has become disrupted. A power surge or spike can crash a computer as easily as a power cut.

If this has become a nuisance for you then consider buying a uninterrupted power supply (UPS). This will give you a clean power supply when there is electricity, and it will give you a few minutes to perform a controlled shutdown in case of a power cut.

It is a good investment if your data are critical, because a power cut will cause any unsaved data to be lost.
http://we-fixed-it.blogspot.com

Virtual Private Network for BPO

original content: Virtual Private Network for Small Busines

Virtual Private Network is a network within a network. This is very popular with businesses that have people working remotely. Basically what we have here is a utilization of the network already provided by the internet. The internet infrastructure can be used as the network for remote employees to access their corporate systems.

Corporate environments have a far greater need for tight security. This is achieved by creating a VPN (virtual private network) on top of the normal internet connection. This type of connection allows for greater security and encryption. Only authenticated users can access the corporate network and the data being transferred cannot be intercepted. So this VPN (virtual private network) connection is being run through the internet public network.

Virtual Private Networks claim to solve majority of the security problems faced by the enterprises. Most of the issues were related to secure data transfer over the public internet. The internet's greatest asset is ubiquity and openness but this is its greatest weakness as well. VPN seems to have been a solution to the weakness.

Two components are needed to make this scenario work. First, there needs to be a virtual private network setup which has the server VPN software installed (and a good router with a firewall). The next would be to have the client VPN software installed on the remote employee’s machines. Once the client machine is on the internet, they would use the VPN client software to communicate to the corporate server VPN where authentication occurs. Once the server identifies the connecting client as a valid machine, access to the network is granted. From then on all information to/from the client to the server is traveling along this virtual private network and is protected by the additional layer of encryption and security provided.

Many technologies have come up and claim to be VPN technologies: SSL VPN, MPLS VPN to name some. Some basic questions are how do we define VPN? Why do we need a VPN and what are the technologies used in deploying VPN?

Organizations in the past deployed private networks like LAN or WAN for their mission critical applications. A performance predictable and secure infrastructure was the end result. A growing number of businesses cannot afford setting up a private network and existing networks had to reach out to customers to gain a market edge. This is the area where the internet scores its points. Networking basics still present a few bottlenecks. Bandwidth constraints, security problems due to increased exposure, threats like spoofing, session hijacking, sniffing and man-in-the-middle attacks have exposed data in transit.

Finally, there can be a cost savings if determining whether a leased line or VPN is for you. Leased lines can increase in price based on the geographic distance between sites. A virtual private network does not and in fact is more scaleable. (This is a general statement ONLY. It's best to consult with your communications broker prior to making this decision. A broker will be able to provide much more information when compared to speaking with a specific vendor).

author: bestcosmeticsur

http://we-fixed-it.blogspot.com

Network Equipments

Network Equipments

sourced: www.wikipedia.org

Network switch

A network switch is a computer networking device that connects network segments.

The term commonly refers to a Network bridge that processes and routes data at the Data link layer (layer 2) of the OSI model. Switches that additionally process data at the Network layer (layer 3 and above) are often referred to as Layer 3 switches or Multilayer switches.

The term network switch does not generally encompass unintelligent or passive network devices such as hubs and repeaters.

The first Ethernet switch was introduced by Kalpana in 1990. [1]

read more....

Network Hub/Ethernet Hub

A network hub or repeater hub is a device for connecting multiple twisted pair or fiber optic Ethernet devices together and thus making them act as a single network segment. Hubs work at the physical layer (layer 1) of the OSI model. The device is thus a form of multiport repeater. Repeater hubs also participate in collision detection, forwarding a jam signal to all ports if it detects a collision.

Hubs also often come with a BNC and/or AUI connector to allow connection to legacy 10BASE2 or 10BASE5 network segments. The availability of low-priced network switches has largely rendered hubs obsolete but they are still seen in older installations and more specialized applications.

read more

Router

A router[1] is a networking device whose software and hardware are usually tailored to the tasks of routing and forwarding information. For example, on the Internet, information is directed to various paths by routers.

Routers connect two or more logical subnets, which do not necessarily map one-to-one to the physical interfaces of the router.[2] The term "layer 3 switch" often is used interchangeably with router, but switch is a general term without a rigorous technical definition. In marketing usage, it is generally optimized for Ethernet LAN interfaces and may not have other physical interface types. In comparison, a network hub does not do any routing, instead every packet it receives on one network line gets forwarded to all the other network lines.

Routers operate in two different planes [3]:

* Control plane, in which the router learns the outgoing interface that is most appropriate for forwarding specific packets to specific destinations,
* Forwarding plane, which is responsible for the actual process of sending a packet received on a logical interface to an outbound logical interface.

read more

Modem

Modem (from modulator-demodulator) is a device that modulates an analog carrier signal to encode digital information, and also demodulates such a carrier signal to decode the transmitted information. The goal is to produce a signal that can be transmitted easily and decoded to reproduce the original digital data. Modems can be used over any means of transmitting analog signals, from driven diodes to radio.

The most familiar example is a voiceband modem that turns the digital 1s and 0s of a personal computer into sounds that can be transmitted over the telephone lines of Plain Old Telephone Systems (POTS), and once received on the other side, converts those 1s and 0s back into a form used by a USB, Ethernet, serial, or network connection. Modems are generally classified by the amount of data they can send in a given time, normally measured in bits per second, or "bps". They can also be classified by Baud, the number of times the modem changes its signal state per second.

Baud is not the modem's speed in bit/s, but in symbols/s. The baud rate varies, depending on the modulation technique used. Original Bell 103 modems used a modulation technique that saw a change in state 300 times per second. They transmitted 1 bit for every baud, and so a 300 bit/s modem was also a 300-baud modem. However, casual computerists confused the two. A 300 bit/s modem is the only modem whose bit rate matches the baud rate. A 2400 bit/s modem changes state 600 times per second, but due to the fact that it transmits 4 bits for each baud, 2400 bits are transmitted by 600 baud, or changes in states. For example, the ITU V.21 standard used audio frequency-shift keying, aka tones, to carry 300 bit/s using 300 baud, whereas the original ITU V.22 standard allowed 1200 bit/s with 600 baud using phase-shift keying.

Faster modems are used by Internet users every day, notably cable modems and ADSL modems. In telecommunications, "wide band radio modems" transmit repeating frames of data at very high data rates over microwave radio links. Narrow band radio modem is used for low data rate up to 19.2k mainly for private radio networks. Some microwave modems transmit more than a hundred million bits per second. Optical modems transmit data over optical fibers. Most intercontinental data links now use optical modems transmitting over undersea optical fibers. Optical modems routinely have data rates in excess of a billion (1x109) bits per second. One kilobit per second (kbit/s or kb/s or kbps) as used in this article means 1000 bits per second and not 1024 bits per second. For example, a 56k modem can transfer data at up to 56, 000 bits (7kB) per second over the phone line.

read more

DSLAM

A Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer (DSLAM, often pronounced dee-slam) allows telephone lines to make faster connections to the Internet. It is a network device, located in the telephone exchanges of the service providers, that connects multiple customer Digital Subscriber Lines (DSLs) to a high-speed Internet backbone line using multiplexing techniques.[1] By placing remote DSLAMs at locations remote to the telephone exchange, telephone companies provide DSL service to locations previously beyond effective range.

read more
http://we-fixed-it.blogspot.com

how to fixed message error 32777

<img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt;

The hard disk or hard drive is a part of the computer system where our all file and data are being stored,

It is very important to understand how to take good care of your hard disk to prevent any problem and some worst situation that might lossing your important files,

In my personal experienced most problem that caused the hard drive to mal function is a lacked of basic maintenance of your personal computer, basic maintenance like running and updating your anti virus software, disk clean-up, disk defragmenter and some 3rd party software that are specializing in hard drive monitoring , these basic tasks are really helpful to your hard drive to perform well,

There is a lot of information found on the web on how to fixed and maintain your hard drive and saving or rescuing your important file and im very glad if you found this information I wrote,

Here are few basic and simple troubleshooting I can share to you.

Make sure that your hard disk mounted properly,

Checked the cable connection if its properly installed, checked also the power source cable,

Run the BIOS set-up and check if your hard drive was detected

Dont ignore if there is an error message during start-up or press the escape without reading it and undestand what the error message,

Take note of the error message for future reference

Do some basic maintenance I mentioned above, update your anti-virus run a full scan on scheduled task, disk defrag, and disk clean-up

Taking good care of your files in your hard disk,

I strongly suggest to backed-up your file regularly in separate hard drive, secured a removable disk where you can stored your back-up files,

Saved your file in other disk in drive c, if you have 2 or more hard disk in your PC, save it in drive D or E, saved it in one folder so its easy to locate,

When inserting a removable disk make it sure to scanned it with your anti virus to prevent any virus activity that might affect your pc

thats all for today, I hope this article can help you to maintain your hard disk and important file,
Run Register Editor by click start -> Run, and then type “regedit” and press Enter
2. loook to the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Registration

Note that inside the registry key, there should be another subkey that resembles the following:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Registration\{90120000-0030-0000-0000-0000000FF1CE

or

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Registration\{91120000-0011-0000-0000-0000000FF1CE
3.Look for the correct registry subkey, If there is more than one registry entries or subkeys that reference Microsoft 12.0 registration, open up each subkey, and then identify the product by the ProductName value data until you locate the correct subkey,

For example:

ProductName=Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2007
ProductName=Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007
4. Once found the correct registry subkey, delete the following values:

DigitalProductID
ProductID

Close Registry Editor.

Once Microsoft Office 2007 has been installed with no product key, proceed with the following steps:

1. In Windows Explorer, browse to the following folder:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\OFFICE12\Office Setup Controller\Proof.en\
2. Right click on Proof.XML file, select “Open With…” in the right click menu
3. select Notepad to be used to open the XML file. In Vista, if you can’t see the Notepad option, simply double click the “Other Programs” to unhide it.
4. locate the following lines:

<feature id="”SetupXmlFiles”" cost="”1248″">
<optionref id="”AlwaysInstalled”/">
</optionref>
5. Change the AlwaysInsalled to neverInstalled so that the line looks like following:

<optionref id="”neverInstalled”/">
6. Save the Proof.xml file. In Windows Vista, you may need to take ownership and grant full access permission to yourself before able to modify the file.

and thats it.. i can now edit my documents and used the whole program without prompting the activation key...

DISCLAIMER: THIS IS FOR EDUCATIONAL PORPUSE ONLY...</optionref></feature>
http://we-fixed-it.blogspot.com

Google App Engine Blog: Seriously this time, the new language on App Engine: Java™

When the two of us first heard the promise of Google App Engine, we realized that the chance to bring this kind of simplicity to Java developers was too good of an opportunity to pass up. short or busted capacitor on it, So I leaved the motherboards on him and he will give me feedback after 2 days, until now its been a week I don`t have any feed back on him what is happening on my motherboard,

I tried to go in their shop but i was not able to catch him, His officemate told me that he will be in at 1pm, I cant wait that long...I have to get some sleep due to my graveyard shift,

Now I that im kinda worried bout the motherboard, I might buy a brand new one if there is still no update on that stupid techician,

How to remove lsass.exe spyware manually without downloading anti spyware

last week one of my client called me for a technical visit, they are having problem with their
2 computers, when i got in their office and started to troubleshotting the computers i got
this error message lsas.exe, when i click OK the system will restart and i got the same error again.

I searched the net and found out that this is a virus, according to the diffination this is belong to Trojan virus
and the worst is this will allows attackers to acces your computer from remote locations and possible stealing your
password and personal data,

I felt frustrated coz i cant log-on to windows, even if i restarted it and go to safe mode option the problem is
still the same, the lsas.exe will pop up and then when i click OK it will restart, as adviced by many on the net
to download a spyware program to detect the this lsas.exe and fixed the system, but how can i download it, i cant
log-on to windows,

Here is the tricky part, removing the lsas.exe without downloading a spyware software, what you need is just to remove
your physical drive from your affected computer, installed the removed hard drive as slave drive to your extra computer,
searched for the lsas.exe file in your slave drive and removed it, take note dont remove the original lsas.exe it will
also affect your computer from running you cant also log-in to windows if you delete it.

the original location of this file is on your C\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\lsass,

good luck...:)
http://we-fixed-it.blogspot.comSelf Study....

How did you manage your time? You don’t go out on week-end? No time for love? You frequently go to the gym, its just because you are dedicated of what you are doing, reading the book day and night, facing the computer day and night, all these are partly true if you do a SELF STUDY,

But all those hard work are really paid off, just like climbing the highest peak of the mountain when you get at the top all your hard work are really worth, you just have to believe in your self and keep going of your plan, always think of your ambitions, to have your own house, own car, right? We study coz we want to prove something, we study coz we want to be prepare for something for a better and stable carrier,

I really admire those people who is learning by them self and as a result of their hard work they are now respectable and can be considered a master of each field where they belong, age is not a matter just always think young, the younger you think the more you have the courage to learn and study that thing you want in your carrier,

But before we begin with Self Study lets take a look back how you prepare your resources your self and your time.

I am network engineer and yeah I gain it through self study and experience, then later on I started to learn new things my very resources is the internet especially the google search engine I searched the net, then do the trial and error on my extra computer, also mistakes are a good tool for learning.. Look back of your mistake and take it as an experience,

I spend much time on the internet since most of my friends are on the net so almost of my whole day is facing the computer, so the time and the resources are really provided, what I need to do is focus and don’t get my self disturbed and be tempted on things that is not really important and a waste of time.
http://we-fixed-it.blogspot.comgetting started

yes, getting started to this blogging thing and hoping to have some extra income through google addsense, though im not expecting to much on this thing as a newbie to this blogging world but since most of my time i spend it on the internet so i give it a try to create blog site for my self, at first its giving me a hard time to create a particular topic or article to write, i observed and took a research how to get started to this thing and also seeking for advice on how to make it really interesting for my readers,

i already have 2 blogs running this one is the 3rd, though the 1st and 2nd blog is not that really interesting, http://beer-n-food-online.blogspot.com and http://cebuinformationguide.blogspot.com , Im having hard time maintaining my own writing and dont have much time to advertised it on the net to get more traffic it makes me feel bored watching my blog site with just less than 10$ in almost six months so its really discouraging for a newbie like me,

Yeah, its up to me and Me myself can be blame for that boring blog site, so now here i go again making another boring site hehehehe just kidding, i will make it more interesting for you now my dear readers though i cant really maintain my own writings in english, yeah honestly english screw me, but this is also a good way of practicing my writings,

Time is gold so dont waste it make your time more valuable, create a blog and sign-up for adsense, give it a try put a hard work on it, there is no easy way for everything you want to have and achieve you must work hard for it,

there is a lot of home based job and extra income in the net but be careful not all of them
